KPHLI Sponsors and Partners
Kansas Health Foundation (KHF)
The KPHLI would not exist without the support of its primary sponsor, the Kansas
Health Foundation.
The KHF began its existence as an outreach of Wichita’s Wesley Hospital
in 1978 and is today a private, independent philanthropic organization. The
mission of the KHF is to improve the health of all Kansans through a fourfold
focus on children’s health, leadership, public health, and policy. Because
the organization defines health in physical, mental, and social terms, it provides
support for a wide variety of health initiatives across the state.
Kansas Public Health Workforce and Leadership Development (WALD) Center
The Kansas Public Health Workforce and Leadership Development (WALD) Center
is a virtual training center that uses technology to link public health professionals
across the state. The WALD Center maintains partnerships throughout the Midwest
and coordinates several major public health projects, including informatics
training, bioterrorism preparedness, and the Kansas Public Health Leadership
Institute. It receives support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
(CDC) by means of the Association of Teachers of Preventive Medicine.
University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita (KUSM-W), Department of Preventive
Medicine and Public Health
The KUSM-W Department of Preventive Medicine and Public Health maintains a
strong focus on research, service, and medical and public health education.
The department also houses a nationally recognized Master of Public Health
program and provides faculty, staff, and other resources for the KPHLI.

Kansas Department of Health and Environment
(KDHE)
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment’s vision is “Healthier
Kansans Living In Safe and Sustainable Environments.” Towards this end,
the KDHE supports the education and training of the state public health workforce
through data collection, laboratory resources, environmental programs, and
a diverse range of public health initiatives geared towards the unique needs
of the state’s rural population.
Kansas Missouri Oklahoma Regional Leadership Institute (KMOLI)
The Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma Regional Leadership Institute represents a unique collaboration between the public health leadership institutes of member states. Formed in 2007, KMOLI began conducting regional public health leadership activities in 2008. KMOLI utilizes the strengths and adaptations of three pre-existing leadership institutes (Kansas, Missouri, & Oklahoma) and provides public health leaders in Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma access to a coordinated, comprehensive, and competency-based leadership development experience to improve public health practice.
The KDHE Center for Health Disparities
The KDHE Center for Health Disparities is committed to "Improving the Health of All Kansans: Building Stronger Communities for Better Health." Its mission is to promote and improve the health status of all Kansans through shared leadership and collaboration across the public health system in order to reduce identified and emerging health disparities among racial, ethnic, tribal, and underserved populations.
